School Characteristics

Senatobia Middle School consists of students from grades three through six. SMS moved into new facilities in August 2006, when grade three was added to the middle school.

The academic experience for SMS students is enhanced by four technology classrooms, a music room, an art room, a physical education room, a library, a speech therapy room, special resource rooms for students with learning disabilities, and gifted education.

The enrollment of Senatobia Middle School has remained fairly consistent over the last several years. The enrollment for the 2003-2004 school year was 445; the enrollment for the 2004-2005 school year was 438; the enrollment for the 2005-2006 was 423; and the enrollment for the 2006-2007 school year was 447 with a 97.36 attendance percentage. The current enrollment for SMS for the 2007-2008 school year is 613. The reason for the increase in enrollment for the current school year is because of the addition of grade three to the school. Senatobia Middle School is a proud Level 5 school with an Achievement Level Index of 510. Senatobia maintains a 17.2 teacher/student ratio and a $4,459 per pupil expenditure. The school is comprised of seven third grade homerooms, five fourth grade homerooms, six fifth grade homerooms, and six sixth grade homerooms. Of the 586 students enrolled, 55.03% receive free or reduced lunch assistance. A summary of the current 2007-2008 demographic information for SMS is presented in the table below.
